Chapter 8 material specifications updated

Posted on 08 March, 2022

The Vehicle Conspicuity group have updated the REMA best practice guide to Chapter8 and ECE104 markings and materials. This replaces all previous versions and is effective immediately.

The latest guidelines from REMA help all fleet managers and operators understand what markings their fleet should have, in order to comply with the updated requirements of Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual. This was updated earlier this year and has raised the specification of reflective materials used to meet class R3B (typically this is high grade microprismatic material).

Our REMA guide is free to download and distribute and has been a source of best-practice guidance for many years in its previous form.

The guide helps you to understand the requirements in Chapter8 and also those of Safety at Street Works and Road Works in conjunction with the variations for Scotland and Wales and which materials available meet R3B performance classification.
