date - At Traffex 2005 REMA (Retroreflective Equipment Manufacturers’ Association) is demonstrating its new improved website that has a useful section demystifying the various standards and regulations that govern the industries relevant to REMA companies. In our increasingly litigious world and with non-compliant products continuing to arrive in the UK, it is critical to purchase products and components that meet the required relevant standards. If you are a product specifier, a health and safety manager, or if your business is horizontal road marking, road studs, barriers or temporary signs, marker posts and street furniture, road cones and cylinders, high-visibility clothing, flashing lamps or vehicle conspicuity, this is an excellent reference site to clarify the standards and regulations applicable to your products. Other new facilities on the site include expanded essential information on retroreflective products and useful links to relevant organisations such as Department for Transport, Highways Agency and British Standards Institution. The website upgrade is part of a continuing programme to expand REMA’s interface with customers, specifiers and official bodies. Established for 30 years, REMA is recognised by most official bodies as the representative organisation for a variety of retroreflective products that are used mainly on the highway, but are also vital at airports, industrial sites and sports grounds. In many of the product areas - road cones and road studs, for example - REMA represents all the major UK manufacturers. The Association has regular contact with Government (Department for Transport and Highways Agency), Standards Organisations (BSI and CEN), Enforcers (Police) and Users (Highways Authorities and Public Utilities). It is regularly asked to comment on official draft documents, such as TSRGD (Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions) and the Red Book (Code of Practice for Safety at Street Works). - ends -
