NSPCC Wins REMA Vote for 2004

January 2004 - REMA, the trade association for manufacturers of retroreflective traffic safety products, has nominated the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) as its charity for 2004. At the association’s annual general meeting at the end of last year, members passed a resolution to donate to charity the interest that accrues during the year on REMA’s financial reserves. This will become a regular donation, with members voting each AGM for their charity of choice for the following year

“Just as commercial business should demonstrate community responsibility by supporting charity, we believe that trade associations also have a role to play,” commented Mike Mason, chairman, REMA. “NSPCC is a great charity, helping children in need to fulfil their potential. Children are our business future.

After the AGM, held in the Orangery at Blenheim Palace, REMA members were jointed for lunch by invited guests from the Department for Transport, Highways Agency, British Standards Institution, Association for Road Traffic Safety and Management and the Road Safety Markings Association.

Editor’s Note:

• REMA has been established for nearly 30 years and is recognised by official bodies as the representative organisation for a wide range of retroreflective products that are used mainly on the highways, but are also found at airports, industrial sites and sports grounds. The products provide visual information, day and night, for both permanent and temporary traffic needs.
